On January 11th, TRUNK.TECH officially received the ISO 26262:2018 ASIL D functional safety process certification certificate issued by TÜV Rheinland, a leading global provider of testing, inspection, and certification services. This signifies that TRUNK.TECH's full-stack self-developed "AiTrucker" Autonomous Driving System has established a development and management system that covers the V-model based concept, system, hardware, and software, and complies with the international standards for automotive functional safety. This will help to continuously enhance the safety and reliability of autonomous driving truck products, providing protection for large-scale commercial operations.1.1.png

ISO 26262 is an internationally authoritative standard for automotive functional safety, one of the prerequisites for entering the automotive production and manufacturing industry. It aims to address the risks of vehicle behavior caused by electronic and electrical (EE) system failures, thereby minimizing the risks. The functional safety process certification obtained by TRUNK.TECH covers the entire development process, including functional safety management, concept, system design, software design, hardware design, integration of hardware and software, system integration, verification, validation, and configuration, throughout the entire product lifecycle.

ASIL (Automotive Safety Integration Level) is a classification system based on the ISO 26262 standard, which has four levels: A, B, C, and D. The ASIL D certificate obtained by TRUNK.TECH is the highest level of the ISO 26262 functional safety standard, and the development process requirements are also the most stringent.

As a leading autonomous driving truck technology company, TRUNK.TECH not only adheres to full-stack self-research but also strictly follows international standards during the development process of the "AiTrucker" Autonomous Driving System, strictly implementing the development requirements of the ISO 26262 standard. Based on overcoming the congenital physical driving challenges of trucks, TRUNK.TECH has established a complete positive development system for system design and functional safety. Currently, TRUNK.TECH has cooperated with FAW Jiefang, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (CNHTC), XCMG Group, Foton Motor, and Beiben Heavy Duty Truck, among other major vehicle manufacturers, to develop more than ten different brands of intelligent truck products. Nearly 200 intelligent trucks equipped with the "AiTrucker" Autonomous Driving System are now commercially operating in domestic ports, ports, and on multiple highways, with a cumulative test and operation mileage of nearly ten million kilometers.

Safety is paramount, a principle deeply ingrained in TRUNK.TECH's corporate DNA since its inception. In the pursuit of leading and innovative autonomous driving technology, the TRUNK.TECH team always remembers that delivering safe, reliable, and stable products and services is the true responsibility and mission. To this end, TRUNK.TECH has not only established a solid safety culture and awareness within its R&D team but also continuously builds a safety team with professional knowledge. The company conducts ongoing functional safety knowledge training courses for all employees, with several engineers obtaining functional safety engineer certificates certified by TÜV Rheinland. During the audit process, TRUNK.TECH passed the relevant review work smoothly at an industry-leading pace.1.1.png

Today, while refining its R&D system, TRUNK.TECH has been the first to implement the ISO 26262 functional safety standard, becoming the industry's first autonomous driving company to develop and operate products in accordance with this standard in the commercial unmanned driving scenario of ports. This not only provides port customers with a more secure and reliable Autonomous Driving Solutions for Smart Ports but also lays a solid foundation for overcoming the technical challenges of full unmanned mixed traffic in ports. Currently, leveraging its industry-leading capabilities in deep mixed traffic unmanned driving in ports, TRUNK.TECH has achieved the "first mixed traffic unmanned operation in the country" in smart port projects in collaboration with Zhejiang Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port. Even under busy intersections at night with mixed traffic of external trucks, manned internal trucks, pedestrians, and small trucks without traffic signal guidance, the unmanned trucks can pass safely and smoothly. This leading technical strength will also save on the construction costs of smart ports, especially creating technology for the transformation of traditional docks into automated docks.
