Eurasia International Container Terminal (EICT) is the expansion area of Tianjin Port Autonomous Driving Demonstration Area (Phase I), which is a traditional container terminal that has been built and put into operation for many years. A New Journey: First Test of Automatic Driving on Urban Roads

On January 15, in Australia Road of Tianjin Dongjiang Comprehensive Protection Zone, five intelligent networked collector trucks developed by TRUNK.TECH in cooperation with Tianjin Port Logistics Development Company formed a formation and successfully opened the first self-driving test based on the open road scenario, laying a solid foundation for the two-way scenario of self-driving cargo transportation from the Pacific Container Terminal to the Dongjiang Customs inspection site.

This project "Customs Inspection Intelligent Networked Vehicle Demonstration Route" is organized and coordinated by the Administrative Committee of Dongjiang Comprehensive Free Trade Zone, and Logistics Development Company and TRUNK.TECH jointly apply for a test license and develop vehicles, with strong support and active participation from Tianjin Transportation Commission, Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Public Security, Tianjin Customs, and other governmental departments and port units. The project will accelerate the promotion of driverless technology. This project will accelerate the promotion and application of driverless technology, enrich the application scenarios of intelligent networked vehicles, promote the intelligent transformation and upgrading of container trucks, and then make positive contributions to enhancing the efficiency of logistics and transportation and the level of logistics management in the Dongjiang ZIPO, and to building a model of integration of port, industry and city.

Different from the low-speed mixed transportation scenario in the port, the test route of this project is a more complex and dynamic open road in the urban area, which not only has a large number of social vehicles, pedestrians, electric bicycles and other traffic participants with high speed, but also has the requirement of observing the traffic regulations of the road such as the red and green lights which are not allowed to be wrong, which has more stringent requirements for the system technical capability and safety reliability of the intelligent network connected container trucks. Thanks to the "AiTrucker" L4 automatic driving system developed by TRUNK.TECH and the accumulation of more than ten million kilometers of real road tests over the years, the intelligent networked trucks are equipped with strong fusion sensing, high-precision positioning, behavior prediction and control strength, and are able to realize the whole process of automatic driving and keep driving safely and stably for the customs inspection scenario.
